The idea is to have a web-site where Armenians (and Armenians by association) from all walks of life and all over the world converge to meet other Armenians, network, create new friendships, exchange ideas, promote their businesses, showcase their art or just satisfy their curiosity about other Armenians.

We all have this peculiar interest in other Armenians. How many times have you looked for Armenian last names whenever you come across a list of some sort or when the credits start rolling at the end of a movie? It might be because there are so few of us that we feel like we either know or ought to know every Armenian in the world. In fact the usual six degrees of separation decreases to two or three degrees when it comes to Armenians. I probably know someone who knows someone who knows you, but we still may never meet, even though we might have similar interests. Add to that busy lives and complex schedules and it becomes even more difficult to find like-minded Armenians who might live in another city or just down the street.

There are thousands of Armenians on the internet, spread out in different groups including professional and political organizations, student organizations, artists forums, religious and community organizations…and the list goes on. Through OneArmenia.com we would like to bring everyone under one roof – creating a common network regardless of where you live or your membership in other organizations. Here is ONE website where you can search for Armenians ranging from an Architect in Argentina, a Biology student in Boston to a Sculptor in Stepanakert and everyone in-between.

Our goal is to foster unity among Armenians on the Web, to become an interactive, searchable database of Armenians from all walks of life and from around the globe and to make it easier for them to connect and share ideas.

How It Works

Once you sign up, will get to set up a profile (illustrated below) and be able to see the profiles of other members and contact them. Using your username and password you will be able to update your information and photos as often and anytime you like. We recommend that each person have at least a little paragraph about themselves in their profile.

Have your video or songs right on your profile page for
others to enjoy. Upload your video to youTUBE and
your music to TuneFeed and then just enter the links
to those files on the sign up page.

Contact other members by sending them an e-mail directly from their profile page. The e-mail will go from your e-mail address to the other person's personal e-mail address. The messages are private, OneArmenia.com does not have access to them, we just use a forwarding service to transmit the e-mails from one person to the other. Please note that while the sender does not see the other person's e-mail address, the recipient will see the address of the sender.

Link your personal and business websites to our site to showcase your art or promote your business. OneArmenia.com is not designed to compete with other websites, so we encourage you to link your profile page to other sites like MySpace, Flicker or YouTube where people can find more information about you, listen to your music, see your photos or watch your videos.

All the text in these fields are searchable through the KEYWORD search. For example, if you wrote in your profile that you attended UCLA, are a member of Homenetmen and like yoga, anyone searching for any of these words (UCLA, Homenetmen, yoga), will bring you up in the search results. This is especially helpful if a group of people join from the same organization. You can isolate just that group by doing a search for example for “USC Armenian Student Organization”, given that all the members from that group had the name of that organization in their profiles.

OneArmenia.com Groups

Members of an organizations can join as a group and create a profile page that will have the organization's mission statement, web-site link and thumbnail images of all the members (similar to the home page). Group members will have the ability to send one email to the whole group, making announcements or correspondence easier. Other OneArmenia.com members can see the organization's profile page, read about their goals and objectives and can contact members individually, but will not be able to send mass emails. Each group will have an Administrator who will approve requests by other OneArmenia.com members to join the group. The advantage of having a OneArmenia.com Group is that it will serve as a mini web-site for that organization and at the same time the members will be a part of a larger more diverse and international community. It will also give this large group of Armenians the opportunity to learn about and even join the organization.

Once you are signed in feel free to play around with the site to see how things work. One thing you can try is sending yourself an email, to see how that works. Another interesting thing you can try is doing a Links Only search from the SEARCH page. This will only bring up the website links of our members, in your selected category, so you can easily browse through the websites.

We at OneArmenia.com have faith that our members are mature enough to conduct themselves in a professional manner and able to decide on their own what is appropriate to display on their profile. Therefore you are able to upload your images on to the website, without having it approved first.

However, inappropriate conduct or images containing sexually explicit or otherwise offensive materials will not be tolerated. We urge our members to contact us at info@OneArmenia.com if they have been sent an inappropriate message or to report any offensive materials found on a member's profile.
